​Cece Johnson grew up on the Oregon coast. She was a restaurant
manager for 9 years in Astoria before running her own restaurant for
15 years. In 2005 she sold her restaurant to become more involved in
teaching quilting. Her love of retreats led her to combine her culinary skills with her quilting skills and she has become well known for her much anticipated Quilt Retreats on the Oregon Coast in Astoria, OR.
Growing up, Cece was surrounded by talented quilters. Both her mother and her older sister embraced quilting and influenced her direction. In the beginning she became involved so she could spend more time with her family. As her skills developed along with her confidence, she
experienced the joy of helping others solve problems in quilting. In 2001 that talent combined with her infectious optimism led to her becoming a leader and teacher. She is able to enjoy her time with others and help them in every step along the way to create quilts they can be proud of and enjoy. She is creative, a great listener and problem solver, making her classes even more inspiring. Cece is able to turn mistakes into positive learning experiences for her students. One of her favorite sayings is “done is better than perfect.”
She has developed some of her own patterns which she breaks down into simple step by step instructions. Her retreats and classes have many repeat clients, complete with waiting lists.​
